While the term “know how” includes a general knowledge of industrial processes, usually gained through tests conducted in laboratories or semi-industrial plants, Process Design is the discipline that enables the conversion of this knowledge into a set of documents, which serve as the basis for the implementation of a process plant. Process design activities may be developed by a process Licensor: this may occur, for example, when a patent is awarded for an innovative process. In this case, the Process Licensor, in addition to granting patent exploitation rights, usually develops a basic process design, tailored to the capacity and operating conditions of the new Plant. However, the basic design usually needs a certain degree of integration before it can be utilized by engineering companies. At Energeco we have the experience and the qualified resources to complete the basic design and transform it into an all-round Process design Package. On the other hand, there are several non-licensed Units (open – art) such as Utilities or, in general, Units that do not envisage any chemical reactions, that is to say, Units for which the development of process design does not require the involvement of a Licensor. In those cases, at Energeco we can develop an all-round accurate Process Design Package, suitable for promptly kick-starting detailed engineering activities, on the basis of our longstanding process design experience.
