Refinery storage systems involve, in particular, large-scale crude oil tanks and a considerable number of both intermediate and final product tanks. Economy and safety aspects require an optimized design, and a proper and accurate implementation of subject alarm and emergency systems. The expansion or change of use of some tanks should be considered and the  original design principles taken into account.
