Product storage and shipment are the final stages of the production cycle. Products are generally shipped by means of trucks, barges, rail or dedicated pipelines, according to product characteristics and site location. Solid products may be stored outdoors in open yards or inside warehouses and filled in bags, or reclaimed and shipped in bulk. Storage and shipment facilities must be tailored to the plant's capacity and market requirements, but specific product aspects must also be taken into account: for example, in oil refineries, inventory starts mainly as crude oil but then originates many intermediate products, which are recombined by means of blending facilities. These are non-perishable products, whereby the reasonable oversizing of the inventory may be expensive, with regard to capital expenditure, but cost-effective in the long run, since it can guarantee reliable supplies to end users. At Energeco we provide all-round services, from the optimum sizing of storage systems to shipment facility design, thanks to our highly qualified specialists.
